Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026 • Compliant with DPDP Act & Google Play / Apple Store Guidelines

1. Overview

Booksyte ("we", "our", or "us") provides a live music marketplace and booking platform connecting musicians and event organizers. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, store, process, and protect your information when you access or use our mobile application and web services.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account & Contact Info: Mobile phone number (used for WhatsApp OTP authentication), full name, stage name, email address (optional), and user role (musician / organizer).
  • Artist Profiles & Portfolio: Genres, instruments, bio, hourly/gig rates, portfolio photos, and location (city/state).
  • Organizer & Gig Details: Venue name, event description, gig dates, budget, genres required, and event location.
  • Communications: In-app direct messages between musicians and organizers, quote proposals, and counter-offers.
  • Device & Notification Data: Push notification tokens (Expo Push) and operating system info to deliver booking alerts.
  • Usage Data: The days you use the app (the date only, not what you did), and how many times gigs and profiles are opened each day. We count openings; we never record who opened them. We also count which musician searches (by role, city and genre) find nobody, without the search words or who searched. When you sign up, we note how you found Booksyte (for example, a shared link or a campaign tag), if known.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely for legitimate service operations, including:

  • Authenticating your account via secure OTP and maintaining active sessions.
  • Matching musicians with relevant organizer gig opportunities based on city and genre.
  • Facilitating bookings, offers, and communication between artists and organizers.
  • Sending critical push notifications regarding gig status, offers, and chat messages.
  • Preventing fraud, abusive behavior, and duplicate accounts.
  • Understanding how Booksyte is used, as overall totals, to improve the service and plan its pricing. These totals contain no personal data.
  • Showing finished performer profiles on Google and other search engines, so organizers can find you. Performers can switch this off at any time under Profile > Show my profile on Google; anyone you share your link with can still open it. Your phone number and email are never on your public profile.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data is shared exclusively with necessary infrastructure providers to operate the service:

  • Cloud & Database Hosting: Secure encrypted cloud databases and storage.
  • SMS & WhatsApp OTP Gateways: For sending one-time login codes.
  • Push Notification Services: Apple APNs and Google FCM / Expo Push.

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You have the absolute right to delete your account and request full data erasure at any time.

How to delete your account:

  • In-App: Open the Booksyte app > tap your profile avatar > select "Delete Account" > confirm "Delete Forever".
  • Web Portal: Visit our Web Account Deletion Portal and submit your registered phone number.

Upon deletion, your profile, portfolio media, chat histories, and active applications are permanently removed within 30 days. Tax and financial transaction records (if any) are retained only as required by statutory law. The days you used the app are deleted with your account, and after 400 days at the latest; daily opening counts are kept for 400 days. Overall totals (for example, how many bookings were made each day) contain no personal data and are kept. Bookings, disputes and reviews you were part of stay in the other person's history, shown as "Deleted user" without your name or contact details; upcoming bookings are cancelled and the other person is told.
